2. The U.S. had no intention of engaging in diplomatic talks with Iran and instead planned to help Israel attack Iran

3. The U.S. did plan on engaging in diplomatic talks and thought this action could help them at the bargaining table

This may be controversial, but it's hard to argue against smaller nations pursuing nuclear weapons. Just look at what's happening to Ukraine and what happened to Gaddafi. Meanwhile, North Korea and Pakistan remain untouched. It sets a troubling precedent.

Trump slamming the door on Ukraine+threatening Canada and Mexico really doesn't help either. It feels like nuclear proliferation is inevitable at this point.....

The US isnt removing sanctions on Iranian oil, even with a nuclear deal. They do not want the market for oil to keep dropping and hurting their domestic oil production. It makes sense that Iran is not trusting of the US, especially if the US keeps demanding the dismantling of Iranian nuclear programs. There needs to be a realistic path to a lasting deal. Dismantling the entirety of their nuclear program in exchange for promises to remove sanctions in the future is unrealistic and not a real negotiation. 

It sounds more like the maximal pressure that Israel wants Trump to exert in lieu of OK-ing strikes on Iran. I do think Trump wants this deal, but the original JCPOA has the outlines of a lasting nuclear agreement already, there isnt much to change because the red lines for both sides have always been the same, Obama negotiated a fine deal originally. So hopefully more realistic demands can be made of the Iranians, removing their funding and arming of proxies for example.

Probably a question if Trump will bomb Iran or he will allow or help Israel to do so, it seems pretty likely Iran will try to mess up the persian gulf and possibly attack gulf states if that happens.

An interesting thought, if the US did attack Iran and they retaliated on some bases in the middle east and killed hundreds of soldiers that would obviously be a massive escalation, but it would also crucify Trump for attacking another country and getting his own soldiers killed. 

In reality though Israel will attack as a proxy and Iran will probably have to attack locations with fairly solid ICBM defenses.
